The Challenge

LOLA Chinese Extravaganza is known for its immersive dining experiences and visually rich brand identity. However, its existing website wasn’t living up to the same standard. Users—especially on mobile—struggled to navigate menus, book tables, and access essential information. Inconsistent visual elements, unclear booking flows, and broken links further eroded trust and usability. The client needed a clear roadmap for improving the website without compromising its bold aesthetic.

Our Approach

We conducted a comprehensive UX audit of the website, evaluating both desktop and mobile versions using Nielsen’s heuristics. Each element was analyzed for clarity, consistency, accessibility, and efficiency. We identified over 30 usability issues, prioritizing them by severity and proposing actionable design changes. The audit served as the foundation for a full redesign, focusing on clearer navigation, mobile responsiveness, and aligning the user journey with customer expectations — from menu browsing to table reservations.

Key Insights & Focus Areas:

  • Navigation clarity: Redundant menu structures and lack of emphasis on primary calls-to-action caused confusion among users.
  • Content discoverability: Important pages like the menu or ordering information were buried under vague labels or hidden in submenus.
  • Visual consistency: Inconsistent use of typography, icons, and layout disrupted the user experience and diluted brand perception.
  • Mobile responsiveness: On smaller screens, content blocks overlapped or became unreadable, making the mobile browsing experience frustrating.
  • Conversion flow: There were missed opportunities to guide users from interest (e.g., browsing the menu) to action.
